The Clipper Café opened its doors in April 2012 after a complete refurbishment. The Clipper now boasts downstairs eating area as well as upstairs seating and outside balcony with magnificent views over the River Teign. The front Terrace seating area comprises numerous tables for summer dining at the water’s edge.
The Clipper offers a traditional café menu with all the favourites you’d expect as well as regularly changing chef’s specials. You can start your day with an early breakfast, join us for morning coffee and delicious homemade cakes, dine with us at lunchtime or sample one of our afternoon teas. In the evening the candles are lit as the vibe changes to a relaxed informal dining atmosphere where our chefs frequently tailor the menu to include diners favourites and the local catch. We look forward to welcoming you day or night, to the bright nautical-style Clipper, whether you are dining with us or simply relaxing with a glass of wine.
Our team of Chefs are led by Italians Gino and Marco, both of whom have built up excellent reputations for tasty dishes prepared from fresh in a traditional kitchen. Gino is passionate about sourcing the best quality local produce. Our bread is baked fresh at the Shaldon bakery. Our seasonal vegetables are grown within 1 mile of the café and Gino has been known to venture out to Lyme Bay to catch the fish himself! Marco has a reputation for creating the finest desserts, tempting even the most disciplined away from their diet for a day!
