This is a video of a freighter leaving Teignmouth one Sunday morning in February at low tide! It is being guided by a Pilot boat .
It's always amazing how such large ships can navigate a narrow channel with little room for error. The estuary is not deep and there are changing sand bars seaward of the mouth, just to make it more difficult!
The video above is a quick traverse from the Shaldon shoreline near the ferry which runs daily and out to the Ness. It shows views across to Teignmouth, the Teignmouth spit, out to sea (with the freigher above on the horizon) and back around to the strand houses behind the camera.
