Shaldon is, due to its village size, restricted in the number of high traffic attractions it can accommodate. That is one of its beauties though.
Agatha Christie is one of the areas most famous personalities and has a rich heritage celebrated locally. Her famous characters, Miss Marples, Hercule Poirot and the huge literary contribution have made her a local celebrity. Born in Torquay and living her later life just outside Galmpton at Greenway, her home is now run and owned by the National Trust and can be visited (please check dates). The home is kept in the same condition as when Agatha and family lived there, which makes for an interesting day out.
