Shaldon Golf

Good news golfers! Shaldon Pitch and Putt is a lovely golf course that provides an excellent excuse to sneak the clubs into the car boot with you. The course has a full 18 holes, giving you the choice between a leisurely half-round and making a full day of sporty exertion. At the 70 par course most holes are par 3, ranging from 70 to 130 or so yards. Golfers can practice a multiplicity of short game skills at Pitch and Putt; as well as downhill tee-offs. Obviously, this does render the course a little hilly, so it is sure to burn off afternoon tea.  In recent years, work has been undertaken to improve the greens and lengthen some of the holes. At a rough estimate, the course takes 2 hours to complete.

Of course it is up to you whether you wish to make your round a casual stroll, or harness a fast-paced and competitive spirit. If the former, you will be able to appreciate the pretty views the course offers across Teignmouth. Conversely, those who choose the latter and wish to play more of an individual than a family game, might be glad to know that Shaldon Zoo is just opposite the course, to keep less avid Masters fans occupied. If you’re a putting novice and want to try your hand at something new, club hire is available with a deposit. The cost of a round is usually about £5, so a day in the outdoors will certainly not break the bank.

However, if you’re not quite up to Bubba standard, then Teignmouth Adventure Golf offers something more relaxed, and arguably more entertaining! Much laughing will be elicited from the family’s various attempts to get that little white ball into the elaborately set out holes, which is something children and adults alike can enjoy. Constructed by Citygolf UK, the course is still loyal to the rules of traditional golf and there is no reason not to make a tournament out of the round. Again, the views are impressive as Adventure Golf is located on an award-winning seafront location. The course has 12 holes and boasts an abundance of natural stone obstacles, as well as bunkers and even water features. If the kids are still full of energy after their round, there is an award-winning play area adjacent to the course.
